Community is a core pillar of Zulu culture and a fundamental part of our brand. Since our inception, Balega has sought to honor the culture and country that is so much a part of our identity. In 2004, we successfully launched The Lesedi Project (meaning light and enlightenment) in order to give back and strengthen South African communities.

Through The Lesedi Project, your purchases of Balega running socks have aided this home for 300 disabled and disadvantaged children along the Comrades Marathon route in KwaZulu Natal, South Africa by providing:
Grit & Grace
In partnership with Breast Cancer Prevention Partners (BCPP), who work to eliminate environmental causes of breast cancer, we’re on a mission of prevention by encouraging healthier lifestyles for women.
Balega offers limited edition running socks during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, donating $1 to BCPP from every pair sold. These socks feature inspirational messages for all women.
